Luciana - Live In Adelaide

First things first - I'm not a stalker. Sure, I flew to a different state to see Luciana perform five songs, stayed at the same hotel and took the same flight back to Sydney but the last two were pure coincidence! The trip was a spur of the moment decision but I'm so glad I travelled those 1400 measly kilometres. It's always a treat to see my favourite dance diva strut her stuff live and Luci shook that club to its very foundations with her hot tunes and fabulous stage show. Speaking of the venue, HQ is actually pretty amazing. And probably the best thing about Adelaide apart from cheap drinks and a 24 hour KFC. No offence. The club is bigger than anything in Sydney and, more importantly, has a happy hour (cocktails for $3.50) that goes for half the night. I was like Lindsay Lohan in a prescription free pharmacy! After downing enough Vodka to kill a Russian sailor, I was ready to be rocked by England's finest and claimed a spot at the front of the stage. As usual, Luciana didn't disappoint. She owned that stage, sounded amazing and looked every inch the superstar in her Run DMC t-shirt and ripped stockings.

Ms Caporaso kicked off her set with a brilliant rendition of "I Wish You Would". I have to admit, I'd pretty much forgotten about her collaboration with Martijn Ted Velden but I've been playing it on repeat since Saturday night. AATW should seriously consider re-releasing the song if "I Like That" takes off in the UK. It sounds fresher now than it did three years ago! Next up was my favourite Bodyrox anthem - the club classic "What Planet You On?" That was followed by the filthiest jam in Luciana's repertoire. I love seeing her perform "Bigger Than Big". It takes a certain kind of fuck you attitude to get through lyrics like "baby, I'm so wet for you" with a straight face and Luci does it like a pro. No pun intended. The amazing thing is that none of these songs ever reached the top 50 in Australia but everyone knew the words. Which I guess is a testament to the loyalty and good taste of the local dance community. When she finally dusted off the evergreen hit "Yeah Yeah" - I thought the redneck gays standing next to me were going to explode. They managed to keep their shit together but I almost dropped my bundle when Luciana closed the show with her top 3 Australian smash "I Like That". After 16 years of hard work, I'm so happy everything is coming together for the dance icon and even more excited that it all started in Australia. If you missed out on her whirlwind tour - never fear. Luci tells me she'll be bringing her ripped stockings and stilettos back to Sydney in August! Can't wait.

That's my hand!
